It’s time to prepare for the final Mercury Retrograde of the YEAR (check out our ultimate Survival Guide here)! While Mercury stationing retrograde is never a necessarily “fun” astrological  transit to confront, being aware of the energies in advance is a helpful way to navigate them.


Here’s everything you need to know about Mercury Retrograde in Libra:

  • Sign occurring: Libra
  • Dates: September 26 – October 18, 2021
  • Degrees traversed: 25 - 10 degrees 
  • Stations retrograde in a square to Pluto in Scorpio
  • Stations retrograde in a trine to Jupiter RX in Aquarius
  • Makes a conjunction to Mars in Libra on October 9th
  • Saturn in Aquarius stations direct October 10th
  • Stations direct opposite Chiron in Aries
  • Stations direct the same day as Jupiter, October 18th

  • OVERALL THEME: How can my one on one partnerships build abundant frameworks that bring more beauty and balance to both parties involved? 

People especially affected:

Anyone with personal planets (Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Venus) in the cardinal signs of Aries, Libra, Cancer, and Capricorn between 10 -  25 degrees 

    What to expect: The beginning of this retrograde will be marked by INTENSITY. There might be a powerful conversation that happens between you and someone you’re in a committed agreement with (think romantic partner or business partner). This conversation is likely to relate to freedom, and how much you’re able, or unable, to experience within the partnership. Think about what freedom really means to you and if your one on one partnerships are helping or hindering that idea.

    Midway through the retrograde, specifically the weekend of Oct. 8th-10th, a hasty decision, or fiery argument, ensues. This heated moment is brief, but it brings to light the true foundations of your committed partnerships. Maybe new boundaries are initiated in hopes of finding better balance. By the end of the retrograde, your deepest wounds around partnership will be exposed. The relationships that survive will feel more abundant because of the newly erected structures that define them.

    What’s different from the other retrogrades this year: All the Mercury Retrogrades of 2021 have occurred in air signs, in January it was in Aquarius, discussing the collective, and in May it was in Gemini, discussing our close friends. Now, in Libra, it’s all about our one on one partnerships. Both Saturn and Jupiter will also be retrograde, but will station direct by the end. It’s a final review and restructuring of our one on one relationships. If they don’t offer us a path to freedom, they will be reworked, or completely discarded.
