SUPER MOON LUNAR ECLIPSE IN LEO, OPEN YOUR HEART
Hello Ritual Readers!
It has been many months since I have written an article for you all here, and like our coming Super Moon Lunar Eclipse in Leo, I am ready to walk into 2019 with a new sense of self, and new priorities on the table. One of those priorities being you guys, the readers, and communicating tips on how you can use the celestial frequency in the air to enrich your life and bring expansion and growth into your everyday awareness.
This will be our second eclipse of the year, which should by now, be bringing old insecurities from the past up to the surface for review. As a Leo Sun myself- I can attest to this being a common theme for me during the Leo/Aquarius eclipse year we had beginning in August of 2017.
On January 20th in the early morning hours the Sun will enter the fixed air sign of Aquarius with us ending the evening with a Supermoon Lunar Eclipse in Leo at zero degrees at 9:16 PM PDT and January 21st 12:16 AM EDT.
Zero degrees is an important degree point for celestial events and this Eclipse falling at zero degrees is no exception. We can imagine the zero degrees of this eclipse in Leo moving us into new territory regarding our hearts and how we share ourselves with the world. Reframing what our perceptions are of success and how we seek ego validation, for better or worse.
We have had eclipses in the Leo/Aquarius axis for the past year and a half and we will want to look back over each eclipse period to see how we were challenged to grow during that time. As this eclipse in Leo will help to push our path forward into new territory when it comes to us opening our hearts and being receptive to new ways of expressing ourselves and being of service to the world. As much as it marks a beginning, this eclipse also marks an ending. An ending of an old self and who that self was in the world in previous years.
A bit about Aquarius and Leo;
Aquarius rules the 11th house and is represented by the Water Bearer. This may be confusing as Aquarius is an air sign. But the symbology relates to the energy of Aquarius being that of a sign dedicated to service for humanity. The water represents the flowing of purification through service and knowledge. A trait that Aquarius energy so willingly provides.
Aquarius being ruled by Saturn and Uranus is not only the innovator for ideas and change, but also the one who comes in to establish the change and new systems that the society will thrive in. Aquarius cares about humanity, and how they can contribute to their world in a better way than what has been done before. Aquarius wants to improve upon old structures and lead us all to a better future.
Some examples of Aquarius energy and how it can influence the world in innovative ways could be followed in the example of these people with their sun in Aquarius, all who have made waves in our social and political climate: Rosa Parks, Oprah Winfrey, Angela Davis, Abraham Lincoln, Charles Dickens, Bob Marley, Ronald Reagan, and Lewis Carroll, just to name a few.
Similar to Aquarius, Leo also cares about others but in a different way. Aquarius is dedicated to service through information, purification, and breaking old structures to put new structures into place, while Leo cares about others but more from an intimate stand point.
Leo wants to connect to people's hearts. Leo is less focused on political agendas, and more focused on intimate relationships and how that influences the world.
Leo wants to share themselves and needs a lot of validation from the world that their way of sharing is acceptable. Leo wants to help people connect to each other through romance, entertainment, and light hearted self expression.
Leo enjoys being the life of the party not to overshadow or dominate, but to bring light into the darkness of people’s hearts, and to show people how to have a good time. Some examples of Leo energy influencing popular culture could be found in the following celebrities: Daniel Radcliffe, Jennifer Lopez, Woody Harrelson, Stanley Kubrick, Mick Jagger, Madonna, J.K. Rowling, Kevin Smith, and Lucille Ball, just to name a few.
Both Aquarius and Leo care about their impact on the world and hearts of others, and sometimes to a fault. It makes sense that we live in a time where we are so concerned with how others perceive us and what we contribute to the world through social media. We are a society driven by gauging ones worth on how many followers or likes we get in the digital age/ Aquarian age.
With this Supermoon Lunar Eclipse at 0 degrees of Leo, it is time to work ourselves into a new place with how we are connecting to our hearts, and how we are sharing that with others. It is time for us to move away from ego validation, and obsessing over ourselves in the world from an egoic stand point, and focus more on how we can bring our talents and gifts into raising the consciousness of the world and helping others from a place of charity.
An enlightened Leo and Aquarius is focused on using their gifts for being of service to the world.
We all are here to learn the benefit of compassion and humanitarian work and this Eclipse is giving us an opportunity to step outside ourselves and into a future where we are helping other people.
It is no surprise to me that the algorithm of social media platforms like Instagram has been on the chopping block. It isn’t just our ego’s on the chopping block, it is our livelihood being controlled and manipulated
We could say that the way eclipse energy manifests into our lives, and especially in Leo, is very similar to an energetic chopping block. It’s time to cut out the old, evaluate, and bring in the new, whether we are ready for it or not.
Because this eclipse energy falls in the Leo/Aquarius axis and is the last for a number of years, we will want to evaluate what we went through during every eclipse in 2018 and 2017 as this is a major chance to stamp out any left over areas of our perceptions of self that we should be moving away from moving forward into 2019.
Super Moon in Leo Lunar Eclipse Exercise:
- Go back and make notes of where you were at in your life during the past year of Leo/Aquarius Eclipses, the dates for these are :
Solar Eclipse in Leo August 21st, 2017 - 24 degrees
Lunar Eclipse in Leo January 31st 2018 -11 degrees
Solar Eclipse in Aquarius February 15th 2018 - 27 Degrees
Solar Eclipse in Cancer July 12th 2018 - 20 degrees ( Foreshadow of energy for Eclipse Season in 2019 when nodal axis moves to Capricorn/ Cancer)
Lunar Eclipse in Aquarius July 27th 2018- 4 degrees
Solar Eclipse in Leo August 11th 2018 - 4 degrees.
- Once you have spent some time journaling where you were at within your life during these times, write down what has changed since then or what has stayed the same. Ask yourself what about yourself has changed? Are you having any feelings of the past present itself to you now during this last Lunar Eclipse in Leo?
- Now take anything that you feel you still possess that is not something you wish to bring with you into this next chapter, write it on a seperate piece of paper, and burn it in a cauldron, fire place, or burn bowl. You are telling the universe with this act that you are no longer allowing this energy into your life.
It is important with this exercise that we focus primarily on where we can open our hearts and develop more kindness for ourselves as well as others. Leo can represent a lot of need for validation from the outside world, and it can have us scrolling for hours on social media and wishing for things that we currently do not have in a way that is not healthy to our mental well being.
We need to spend this eclipse period asking ourselves if the way we are using our gifts is beneficial to our lives in the bigger picture, and to those we care about, or are we focusing too much on ourselves and our success in a way that is distracting us from what really matters?
Happiness truly lies within, and we can share ourselves with the world more joyously when we love ourselves and love others for who we are as spiritual beings, rather than who we are in the material.
The lesson of Leo is to learn to love from the heart, not from the ego. It often feels confusing. But we know the difference when love feels good and like we have a never ending supply, vs when it begins to feel anxiety inducing and dependent on success.
Just like the cowardly Lion in the Wizard of Oz, you have always had the courage to be you in this world, you just had to believe in yourself enough to find it.
