When walking into RitualRitual you may notice the plants, the jewelry, or the crystals in every corner.
This shop has the ability to show you new things every time you come in. Over the past three years the shop has been open it has evolved immensely. When I asked why she decided to open up a physical store, in addition to her own jewelry line Concrete Polish, Angela Monaco, said "originally in the summer of 2014 we had just finished six months of rebranding and launching ritual ritual at a previous location. We knew if we wanted to expand and collab on a multifaceted level we needed more space. Once the second street location (our current address) opened up we jumped at it!"
/
Since I have only been working at the shop for about a year I also wanted to know how the shop has changed. Angela said, "looking back over the past three years it's amazing to see how much the space has grown. A vintage section, the apothecary, pins and patches, over 75 independent artisans and creators. A healing room for Reiki and Massage, the jewelry studio, offices, and a photo studio that we use for our online marketing."
The space has become a home for people to find and express their own personal creative vision. One thing that has grown through this space is a family. Everyone who works in the shop, also owns their own small business & sell their products through the space. Something that I believe truly sets us apart from other shops in Philadelphia.

I asked Dana Davis, Ritual's Manager, kickass photographer, and owner of the amazing jewelry line, Material Poetry... How the shop has affected her life?
/
She says, "In the past I’ve held jobs that lacked reward. I was working for someone else, for someone else’s vision. I never felt at home. There was a huge empty space in my heart that should have been filled with a passion for what I intend to put out into the world. Ritual has filled that void. I have the rare opportunity to connect to a variety of artists and makers, I’m exposed to new remarkable work on the regular and am surrounded by the most heartwarming people every single day. I am immeasurably grateful and pretty damn lucky to call this place home."

I asked the rest of the folks who work at the shop, what comes to mind when they think of RitualRitual?
Zac Siravo, the very talented jewelry designer, tattoo artist, and graphic designer, stated:
"The shop is a creative space with positive energy that gives me the ability to work freely in a pressure free environment. When I first came into the store I was almost overwhelmed with the amount of unique products/ services that are offered. To this day I somehow find a new piece that inspires me to create (or purchase) something new!"
Hannah Maicher, owner of Adevar Metal, jewelry designer and badass Metalsmith, says:
"Ritual is a community with a ton of support and encouragement both emotionally and creatively. It's a small witchy family."
Claire Christenson, owner and designer of TwinFlameJewels and crystal whisperer remembers:
"The first time I walked into the shop I thought it was the coolest place I'd ever been and that I needed to move in and have it as my home. When I think of it I think of a healing place with positive energy that I love being in."
Lauren Keating, owner of Fourth and Wild and vintage goddess, says:
"Ritual is an artist collective, a place filled with bombastic women (and Zac) that cultivates creativity and style. It's affected my life by providing an outlet for expression through fashion. It's given me confidence and a lot of joy."

As you can tell, we have a ton of creatives in the Ritual Ritual family, myself included. My journey with RitualRitual started as becoming the plant mama, and eventually starting my own Apothecary company, which I sell in the shop, Volva Botanica.

This space has a magical way of bringing out the most authentic creative energy in each person who spends time there.
/
We are all so grateful for your support over the past three years. We look forward to the continued growth in this space, and continuing to bring you curated and hand crafted goods!
